Cram and Curbo climb Kili for COCO 2009

In 2009 Steve and Allison joined a large group of likeminded individuals all with one goal in mind...to trek to the peak of Kilimanjaro and stand on the roof of Africa while raising vital funds for COCO projects.

Over £75,000 was raised due to the challenge, money which has transformed remote African projects COCO support. Prior to the challenge all the trekkers had the opportunity to visit and meet the children who benefit greatly from the work of COCO and were under no illusions as to where their hard earned fundraising was going. Just the incentive we all needed to reach the summit 6 days later.

However, on making it to the top and touching the sign that Cheryl Cole and Chris Moyles had stood in front of months earlier, Steve declared his desire to return as we were robbed of watching the sun rise over Africa due to the raging snow storm! So after twisting Allison’s arm, the pair are joining a new group of wannabe explorers and taking to the mountain again for COCO Feb 2011. COCO

In 1998 former British Army officer Jim Panton and former international athlete Steve Cram joined forces to raise much-needed funds for the children of a small war-torn community in Bosnia.

Running a 52-mile marathon, they and a handful of Army officers succeeded in raising vital funds for the community. After seeing the difference that their support and funds made they made a pledge to continue their efforts for the benefit of many other children throughout the world. It was at this point that COCO, Comrades of Children Overseas, was born.

To this day, COCO continues to work towards brighter futures across the globe with the same drive and determination.
