Kielder Training Camp

With over 600 square kilometres of forest and 26 miles of shoreline to choose from, Kielder Water and Forest Park is perfect for a Steve Cram Training Camp. From spectacular long distance trails to more leisurely picturesque strolls, there’s a multitude of forest routes to choose from.
Thanks to the Lakeside Way, a multi-user trail that follows the 26 mile Kielder Water shoreline, for the first time there is access to many of the most scenic parts of the lake shore, new views and breathtaking running routes. This is the home of the Kielder Marathon – Britain’s most beautiful, which was held for the first time in 2010 and proved to be a huge success.

Wherever I go these days I seem to get asked one of two questions: ‘When are we going to find another great middle distance runner’, and ‘How can I improve my 10K/half marathon/marathon time?’
There is no easy answer to the first query but I hope I have helped many with the other request by offering some simple, straightforward advice based on the knowledge and experience I’ve gained during nearly 40 years of running.
These days, I run for very different reasons. My motivation is much more to do with enjoying the experience rather than breaking world records but the basics remain the same. I firmly believe that the continued running boom is partly down to the fact that it offers something for everyone.
Whether or not you’re trying to improve, want to challenge yourself or just enjoy the camaraderie and scenery, my new training camps can help you. When I was a developing young athlete I attended many training weekends – they were not only great fun, but also gave me an invaluable insight into the significant factors that would help me to improve my running. That is exactly what I intend to offer through my new camps.
Steve Cram MBE.
